One of the last pieces of untouched nature in Slovakia is situated in Veľká Fatra mountain range. It is sometimes called "jungle", namely because of hardly accessible terrain of coniferous forests.
Great Fatra hides a lot of traditional chalets with large herds of sheep. You can taste there typical Slovak specialties such as cheese dumplings, oštiepok, korbáčiky and other traditional products.
Thanks to its large area, the Great Fatra offers a large amount of multi-day tours, during which you can sleep at the mountain huts and in the cozy hotels.
